Mobile diagnostics and workshop appointments

Mobile car diagnostics or workshop diagnostics by appointment in Bucharest and Ilfov

A dashboard warning light, rough running, loss of power, a starting fault, an electronic problem or a used car that needs checking before purchase can all begin with structured diagnostics. We receive the request and try to connect the client with a diagnostics provider who can attend the vehicle or receive it at a partner workshop by appointment.

Send the make, model, year, engine, symptoms, warning lights and vehicle location. The provider confirms scan-tool compatibility, the agreed checks, mobile attendance or workshop booking, cost and limitations before acceptance.

Technician carrying out car diagnostics at the vehicle location

This page is part of the mobile car services in Bucharest and Ilfov hub.

Prestari Servicii coordinates the request and contact. It is not the scan-tool manufacturer, does not represent every vehicle make and cannot guarantee that every fault will be identified or repaired.

24/7 request handling

Requests can be submitted at any time. Twenty-four-hour intake is not a promise that a technician or workshop is immediately available. Timing depends on area, hour, vehicle, symptoms, access, complexity and provider equipment.

Send:

  • make and model;
  • year;
  • engine and fuel;
  • gearbox;
  • VIN only when needed for identification or compatibility;
  • warning lights and dashboard messages;
  • symptoms;
  • whether the vehicle starts and can be driven;
  • Bucharest sector or Ilfov locality;
  • safe, relevant photographs or video;
  • recent work;
  • any fault codes already read.

How it works

1

You describe the fault

Explain what the vehicle does, when it started and which warnings appear.

2

We confirm vehicle and location

We clarify make, model, year, engine, market of origin, location and access.

3

The appropriate service mode is selected

Mobile attendance at home, office or parking area is considered, or a partner-workshop booking is arranged.

4

The specialist carries out the agreed checks

Depending on scope, the provider connects a scan tool, scans control modules, reviews data, checks symptoms and performs agreed complementary measurements.

5

You receive findings and next steps

The provider explains the faults, what has been confirmed, what remains uncertain and whether repair, parts, a workshop, electrician, mechanic or dealership is required.

Mobile or workshop diagnostics

At the vehicle location

Mobile diagnostics can be useful when a car is immobilised, the owner cannot reach a workshop, initial triage is required before towing or the request mainly concerns fault codes and preliminary checks.

The location must be lawful and safe. Underground parking, heavy traffic, poor lighting, restricted access or a lack of working space can make mobile work unsuitable.

At a workshop by appointment

A workshop may be preferable when the car is driveable or the checks require a lift, stable power supply, smoke testing, oscilloscope work, extended road testing or make-specific equipment.

Prestari Servicii does not describe every provider as an authorised repairer. The workshop and the authorised activities should be checked before contracting.

What professional diagnostics involves

Useful diagnostics go beyond plugging in a scanner. Findings should connect:

  • the driver's symptoms;
  • warning lights and messages;
  • current, stored and intermittent fault codes;
  • freeze-frame information;
  • live data;
  • communication between control modules;
  • relevant electrical and mechanical checks;
  • previous work and replaced parts;
  • the conditions in which the problem occurs.

A fault code points towards a detected circuit, system or abnormal condition. It does not automatically prove that the named component must be replaced.

Fault-code reading and interpretation

Full-system scanning

Where vehicle and tool support allow, the provider may scan available modules rather than the engine alone.

Current, stored and intermittent codes

Code status helps distinguish a present fault from a previous or occasional event.

Freeze-frame information

Some faults retain engine speed, load, temperature, road speed and other values from the detection moment.

Clearing codes

Information should be saved first. Clearing a code does not repair the cause and can remove evidence from an intermittent fault.

Dashboard warnings and vehicle systems

Check-engine warning

Possible causes involve ignition, fuelling, sensors, mixture, intake, exhaust, catalyst, misfire and other systems. A flashing warning can indicate a condition in which continued driving causes damage.

ABS, stability control and brakes

Sensor, wiring, tone-ring, supply and module faults may be recorded. Brake warnings or abnormal braking require a safety-led response.

Airbag and restraint systems

Connectors, seat-belt equipment, sensors, power supply and control units can generate faults. Safety systems should not be handled through improvised work.

Tyre-pressure monitoring

Sensor faults, internal batteries, reception and relearn procedures may be checked where supported.

For valves, pressure, punctures, wheel removal or wheel checks, see Mobile tyre service.

Steering and adaptive suspension

Electronic power steering, angle sensors, power supply and adaptive systems can require scanning and calibration.

Instrument and comfort modules

Communication, supply, coding and comfort-module faults can be accessed where compatible.

Engine performance and non-starting faults

Engine will not start

Diagnostics may consider engine-speed signal, pressure, immobiliser, fuel, ignition, battery voltage and stored faults. Mechanical or electrical measurements may still be required.

Rough idle and misfire

Live counters, corrections, sensor values, adaptations and temperatures can help, but compression, smoke, pressure or oscilloscope testing may be needed.

Power loss and limp mode

Faults, boost pressure, airflow, fuelling and exhaust data are reviewed together with the conditions in which power is limited.

High fuel consumption

Temperature, mixture, regeneration and sensor abnormalities may contribute, but route, driving style, tyres and maintenance also matter.

Oil-pressure and overheating warnings

Serious red warnings are not reasons to continue driving until a scanner arrives. Stop safely and follow the vehicle manufacturer's or professional's advice.

Diesel, DPF, EGR and AdBlue

Requests may concern fault codes, differential pressure, temperature, calculated loading, sensors, EGR operation and AdBlue/SCR messages.

The page does not promote:

  • DPF removal;
  • EGR disabling;
  • AdBlue/SCR deletion;
  • software suppression of emissions systems;
  • concealment of warning lights.

Only lawful diagnosis, maintenance and repair are coordinated. Forced regeneration and active tests require suitable conditions, justification and competent equipment.

Automatic transmission and driveline

Transmission diagnostics may include codes, temperatures, speed signals, adaptations and module communication. Jerking, slipping, noise or missing gears can have electronic, hydraulic or mechanical causes.

Resetting adaptations is not a universal repair. Some gearboxes require exact temperatures, fluid procedures, equipment and workshop conditions.

Battery, alternator and starting system

Checks can include:

  • battery voltage;
  • cranking voltage;
  • alternator output;
  • power-management data;
  • battery-management faults;
  • terminals and voltage drop;
  • battery registration where supported and required.

Low voltage can generate multiple secondary faults. Codes should be interpreted after the power supply is stabilised.

Testing a vehicle battery and charging system

Live data and active tests

Live parameters can include temperature, pressure, voltage, position, correction, airflow, speed and system states.

Active tests command components temporarily. They are appropriate only where the tool supports the function, the specialist understands the procedure and the test is safe for the vehicle and surroundings.

One value must be interpreted in context rather than treated as a verdict.

Sensors, actuators and wiring

A sensor-related code can be caused by:

  • the sensor;
  • power supply or ground;
  • wiring or connector;
  • contamination;
  • a mechanical problem;
  • another system producing an implausible value;
  • module or software issues.

Replacing the named part without testing can waste money.

For power supply, fuses, relays, wiring, lighting, battery, alternator, starter motor and electrical consumers, see also mobile or workshop auto electrician services.

Immobilisers, keys and access

Requests may concern an unrecognised key, blocked starting, steering lock or communication faults. The provider must check identity and lawful control of the vehicle before sensitive work.

The page does not promote protection bypass, unauthorised copying, anti-theft neutralisation or unauthorised access.

Programming, coding and key learning depend on documents, vehicle, equipment and provider competence.

Hybrid and electric vehicles

Diagnostics can involve traction-battery data, thermal management, charging, inverter, insulation, control modules and the 12-volt system where the provider has suitable training and equipment.

High-voltage systems must not be touched through improvised work. Physical checks, isolation and repair require competent personnel and suitable workshop conditions.

Hybrid or electric vehicle diagnostic work in a suitable workshop

American vehicles and individual imports

US and Canadian vehicles may use:

  • market-specific equipment and software;
  • different safety or frequency configurations;
  • control modules not found on the European version;
  • a standard connector but tool-dependent enhanced access;
  • lighting, multimedia or other conversions;
  • parts and procedures that differ from European specifications.

Share the VIN only through the agreed channel when the provider needs it for identification or compatibility.

Vehicle makes and models

The list below uses vehicle makes and representative model examples recorded in Romania's passenger-car park at 31 December 2025. It is a request-routing guide and does not guarantee that every scan tool can communicate with every control module on every vehicle.

Compatibility is confirmed from the make, model, year, engine, market of origin, VIN where necessary, installed modules and provider equipment.

Administrative records can contain spelling variants, historic names and inconsistent entries. The public page must display only clean, user-facing names.

The list shows representative examples and is not a complete catalogue of every commercial description. For rare, historic, electric, hybrid or individually imported vehicles, details are confirmed before booking.

Compatibility can depend on:

  • vehicle year and generation;
  • European, American, Canadian or Asian market;
  • diagnostic port and protocol;
  • installed control modules;
  • scan-tool access level;
  • software, subscriptions and security gateways;
  • modifications, conversions and aftermarket equipment.

For rare, historic, individually imported, electric or hybrid vehicles, the provider confirms equipment and possible checks in advance.

Pre-purchase diagnostics

Electronic scanning can complement, but never replace, a wider vehicle inspection.

The agreed scope may include:

  • module scan;
  • codes and readiness status;
  • mileage values stored in accessible modules;
  • live data;
  • indications that faults were recently cleared;
  • battery and charging checks;
  • road test and visual checks when separately included.

It cannot guarantee:

  • true mileage;
  • absence of previous collision damage;
  • internal engine or gearbox condition;
  • absence of hidden faults;
  • legal history;
  • originality of all components.

A separate pre-purchase inspection page will be created later.

Electronic diagnostics carried out before buying a used car

Diagnostic report

Before the appointment, establish whether the client receives:

  • photographs or screenshots;
  • a code list;
  • an exported scan report;
  • verbal or written interpretation;
  • relevant live-data observations;
  • recommendations;
  • limitations;
  • a separate repair estimate where possible.

The result should distinguish:

  • observation;
  • scanner indication;
  • confirmed finding;
  • working hypothesis;
  • requirement for further testing.

When workshop conditions are needed

Workshop booking is appropriate for:

  • lift or ramp access;
  • work below the vehicle;
  • smoke testing;
  • compression testing;
  • fuel-pressure measurement;
  • oscilloscope diagnosis;
  • stabilised power supply;
  • dismantling;
  • target-based calibration;
  • restraint-system work;
  • high-voltage work;
  • extended road testing;
  • programming or updates requiring infrastructure.

The client may choose a workshop appointment even where basic mobile scanning is possible.

Safety-critical situations

Do not continue driving without professional advice when:

  • a red oil-pressure warning appears;
  • the engine overheats;
  • steering or braking behaves abnormally;
  • smoke, fuel smell or significant leakage occurs;
  • severe misfire is accompanied by a flashing warning;
  • the gearbox becomes locked or produces severe noise;
  • a high-voltage warning appears;
  • the vehicle has been in a safety-relevant impact.

Where the vehicle cannot be moved safely, towing or vehicle transport can be coordinated separately.

Why Prestari Servicii

Choice of location

Requests can be routed to mobile attendance or a workshop booking.

Better pre-visit triage

Vehicle, year, symptoms and warnings are clarified before a provider travels.

Diagnosis is separated from parts replacement

A code is not presented as automatic proof that one component must be replaced.

Connected services

Mechanical, electrical, battery, key, climate and towing requirements can be routed appropriately.

Realistic confirmation

Availability, compatibility and outcome are confirmed for the individual case.

Frequently asked questions

Can diagnostics be carried out at my location?

Requests can be coordinated to mobile providers depending on the vehicle, area and availability.

Can I bring the car to a workshop?

Yes. A partner-workshop appointment can be arranged where preferred or technically appropriate.

Does a fault code identify the exact failed part?

No. It must be interpreted with symptoms, data and tests.

Can every module be scanned?

Only where the vehicle, tool, software and security access allow.

Can codes be cleared?

Where justified, after saving and explaining them. Clearing is not repair.

Can you check a check-engine warning?

Requests for code reading and initial diagnosis can be coordinated.

Can ABS and airbag faults be checked?

Where compatible. Safety-related repair may require a specialist workshop.

Can DPF and AdBlue faults be diagnosed?

Data and faults can be checked. Illegal deletion is not coordinated.

Is forced regeneration available?

Only where justified, safe and accepted by the provider.

Can battery and alternator be tested?

The scope can include voltage and charging checks.

Can automatic gearboxes be scanned?

Module data can be checked; mechanical and hydraulic faults may require a specialist workshop.

Do you diagnose electric cars?

Only through providers with suitable competence and equipment.

Can American-market cars be checked?

Requests are accepted, but compatibility is confirmed from VIN, year, market and installed modules.

Do you have a tool for every make?

Universal access is not promised. The provider confirms compatibility.

Can a used car be checked before purchase?

Yes, within an agreed inspection, but electronic diagnostics does not guarantee the entire vehicle condition.

Will I receive a report?

Confirm the report format before booking.

Is repair included?

Repair can be a separate stage or routed to a suitable mechanic, electrician or workshop.

How long does it take?

It depends on the vehicle, modules, symptoms and required tests.

What does it cost?

The provider confirms price after the vehicle, location and scope are clarified.

Is it available around the clock?

Requests are received 24/7; attendance and workshop bookings depend on provider availability.

Need mobile car diagnostics or would you prefer a workshop appointment?

Send the make, model, year, engine, warning lights, symptoms and location. State whether you prefer attendance at the vehicle or a workshop appointment. We clarify the request and try to connect you with a suitable provider.
